COOPERATION HEART OF NOISE, MAGIC CARPETS & REICH FÜR DIE INSEL

IFFI 202228.05.2022

The Tyrolean artist Carmen Brucic spent a residency in Tblisi, Georgia. She portrayed the protagonists of the club scene and Bassiani co-founder Naja Orashvili for her photo film PRIVATE STAGES. Together with Brucic's film, Naja Orashvili will present her films DANCE OR DIE and SILENCE & RESILIENCE. Several portrayed will also be present. Bassiani Club opened in 2014 in Tblisi and is often mentioned in the same breath as Berghain. The club is considered a safe space, a place without discrimination and exclusion, and a nucleus of social change. However, the operators have met with a lot of resistance: after a raid in 2018, the club was closed, whereupon 15,000 people protested on the streets of Tblisi on the very first day and the international club scene showed solidarity - with success.
