YOUTH JURY COMPETITION for the Südwind Film Award endowed with € 1.500

The youth jury consists of Tyrolean pupils and apprentices who discuss the nominated films under expert guidance and then autonomously award the SÜDWINDFILMPREIS. The development policy NGO Südwind Tirol is a long-standing partner of the festival and donor of this award. This year the youth jury can choose between four films.

The feature film DESPERTÉ CON UN SUEÑO portrays twelve-year-old Felipe, who keeps his love for acting a secret from his mother, and the film LOBO E CÂO by Cláudia Varejão, composed in beautiful images, shows the two protagonists Ana and Luiz, who live on the Azores and have to manage a balancing act between traditional life and their belonging to a caring queer community. NEZOUH is set in besieged Damascus and is a smiling allegory of the necessary downfall of patriarchy: because a father has decided, against all reason and the wishes of the other family members, that the family will not leave the embattled city. ROOZ-E SIB is finally set in a suburb of Tehran and lovingly shows the effects of rural exodus using the example of Saeed and Mahdi's family.
