Overview FEATURE FILM COMPETITION

News01.05.2023

In the feature film competition, six outstanding international feature films are nominated for the 5,500 euro prize of the Province of Tyrol. The international jury, which changes annually, consists of three experts. This year the prize will be awarded by the communication scientist and director Susana Nobre, Wictoria Pelzer, who works at numerous festivals and cinemas, and Dieter Krauß, who is, among other things, a member of the board of directors of the Bundesverband kommunale Filmarbeit. Like all juries of the competitions, they jointly decide on the winning film in a jury meeting. The prize money goes directly to the director.

Nominated are six special feature films from Ukraine, India, Rwanda, Spain, Colombia, Brazil and Portugal. They deal with different themes: In BUTTERFLY VISION, Ukrainian drone pilot Lilia tries to find her way back into life; Don Palathara's FAMILY portrays Sony, a devout Christian who takes on a special role in his community in Kerala; and FATHER'S DAY focuses on three fatefully connected families. In LA MATERNAL by Pilar Palomero, on the other hand, pregnant Carla is placed in an institution for teenage mothers, in LOS REYES DEL MUNDO we get to know 19-year-old Rá, who finally inherits landed property in Colombia, and the film MATO SECO EM CHAMAS shows the lives of a group of strong women in the second largest favela in Brazil.
