Sony is a devout Christian and an active member of his local community in Kerala. People appreciate him for his support and willingness to help. However, using his awareness of strict moral rules, Sony is manipulative and takes advantage of the power of words. Using individual, perfectly staged and composed episodes, Don Palathara exposes social hierarchies and abuses of power. In a subtle, pointed and sensitive manner, the meaning of the story expands to a wider context: the mechanisms of power in this small community are universally transferable.
