New formats at IFFI 2023

In addition to the film screenings, which take place over the six days of the festival in the Leokino and the Cinematopgraph, there are numerous supporting program points at IFFI before and during the festival. Here is an excerpt of the new film and supporting program formats.

New: SHORT FILM COMPETITION. The Domino Award for the best short film, which will be presented for the first time at IFFI #32, is endowed with 1,000 euros and will be awarded by ZeMIT as part of the Domino Effect project. The focus is on filmmakers whose work has provided particularly inspiring impulses on current topics in the film industry such as intimacy coordination, "MeToo", appropriate representation in film and anti-discrimination.

With the short film competition integrated at IFFI for the first time this year, the FILMBISCUIT discussion panel will be contextualized with filmmakers and interested parties.

Another professionally exciting offering is the TALK "The Dissolution of a Boundary Stone" on the question: "Does the category documentary film still needed at all?"

New: WHAT'S TO COME (short film program Worldwide Visions). In addition, this year for the first time there will be a SHORT FILM PROGRAM, WHAT'S TO COME, which is already suitable for those interested from the age of 15.

In cooperation with the @stadtbiblothek, two events will take place on the overall theme of film and comics. Invited is the Berlin artist Bernadette Schweihoff, who designed the current comic treiben.

For those interested in (film) studies, ZIAS, the Center for Inter-American Studies, is offering a lecture series entitled "INSIDE MOUNTAINS: Material Extractions and mythical exploits in the Americas."
