RUHE
1970, Switzerland
Karl Saurer / Hannes Meier / Gerhard Camenzind
Order and obedience. It’s around 1968 that young Swiss people decide that they no longer want to succumb to these rules. They envision a freer, more open and fairer way of living – together. Karl Saurer documented this spirit of change in this critical look at Swiss society, supported by undeniable facts and figures. The perspective proved to be too critical for television management, however: the first chapter of a six-part series was never broadcast and the project was immediately terminated. Only recently re-released, this fascinating time capsule remains shockingly topical.
