OSCUROS RINOCERONTES ENJAULADO (MUY A LA MODA)

Juan Carlos Cremata Malberti

Using a wide range of experimental techniques, the film takes on some of the giants of absurd and surreal cinema. This black-and-white parody of Cuban bureaucracy was directed by a first-generation graduate of the film school of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, and is about a cleaning lady who discovers that her boss is making obscene phone calls. It was directed by Juan Carlos Cremata, then a Cuban student at the EICTV (International Film School of San Antonio de los Banos). The short film made the rounds at festivals and won several prizes. Today it is considered a Latin American classic.
