FÉVRIER (FEBRUARY)

2020, Bulgaria/France

Kamen Kalev

With great sensitivity and no pathos, Kamen Kalev shows three stages of Petar's simple, seemingly timeless existence: his childhood as a shepherd, his time in military service and his marriage, as well as his secluded life in old age. It is a quiet life told even more quietly. Kalev encourages us to meditate on inner peace, happiness, wisdom, and surrender to fate. Is this simple life dreary and is Petar simple-minded to be content with it? This film hardly requires words and does not need to be romanticised to unfold the impressions it makes on the viewer.
