The grim humour of this drama probes the meaning of life and death in one of the poorest of societies. Jesús Martinez, a civil servant, has survived the jungle of state bureaucracy, but one day, at the office, he has a heart attack. To cover his hospital expenses, he is forced to cheat the health insurance company and winds up in a room for terminalphase patients.
