Retrospektive WE ARE NOT ALONE.

Although we have a whole year of preparation time for IFFI #32 for the very first time and don't have to rack our brains over possible Corona measures, we are far from routine. Every year it's a very enjoyable and at the same time challenging process to work out the festival programme, to do research for the retrospective and to fiddle around with new side projects.

Due to the great anticipation, we would like to share two details about IFFI #32 with you:

#1 Retrospective WE ARE NOT ALONE! The first retrospective EVERYTHING WAS FOREVER, UNTIL IT WAS NO MORE already addressed the theme of crisis in society-environment relations. In last year's retrospective EVERY STAR AND EVERY PLANET IS IN PLACE BUT YOU, PLANET EARTH. afrofuturistic counter-designs met questions of justice in crisis conditions. Our retrospective this year, WE ARE NOT ALONE!, dwells in contexts of crisis but asks what alternatives there are to an anthropocentric worldview that explicitly emphasise the interconnectedness of human and non-human worlds.

#2 Film Campus The Film Campus Innsbruck takes place this year as part of a cooperation between Diametrale and IFFI. Ten filmmakers each from Austria and neighbouring countries can visit the two festivals, take part in various workshops and exchange experiences.
