FILM SUBMISSIONS – INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILMS (IFFI #35)

International feature films with a running time of at least 60 minutes that align with the festival profile of IFFI can be submitted. Films from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and other regions underrepresented in international cinema contexts are particularly welcome. Fiction films, documentaries, and hybrid formats are eligible.

FILM REQUIREMENTS

Eligible productions must be from the years 2025 to 2026. An Austrian premiere is desirable but not mandatory. Films must not have been screened regularly in Austrian cinemas before the festival dates. Films must be submitted in their original language with English or German subtitles. It must be ensured that the submission and potential screening do not infringe the rights of third parties.

SUBMISSION

Submissions must include the film title, information on direction and production, country of production, year of production, running time, and a viewing link. In addition, a synopsis with a maximum of 1,000 characters, a director’s biography and filmography with a maximum of 800 characters, as well as two to three stills and a poster in sufficient resolution are required. Submissions must be sent by email to [email protected]. No submission fee is charged. The deadline is January 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CET.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION

The selection of films is carried out by the IFFI program team. Notification of selected films will be sent by the end of March 2026. Due to organizational reasons, no notifications can be sent for films that are not selected. No feedback on the selection decision will be provided. The decision of the program management is final and not subject to appeal.

SCREENING AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Festival screenings will take place as DCP or on 16mm or 35mm film. Subtitles must be provided in English or German and either embedded or supplied as an SRT file. The festival decides in which program section a submitted film will be shown. By submitting a film, filmmakers grant the festival the non-exclusive right to use stills and excerpts of up to 130 seconds for press, promotional, and archival purposes.
