MATO SECO EM CHAMAS (DRY GROUND BURNING)

A group of women run an illegal refinery in Sol Nascente, Brazil's second largest favela. While two sisters are in charge of dealing and trading with the local biker gangs, one of their colleagues is trying to make a political difference. The impressive sound and visual backdrop of machines, music and fire in this raucous film is the stage for a complex story of self-organised resistance. The actresses play versions of themselves as decolonial revolutionaries, but also relate their personal experiences.
