THE WALL OF SHADOWS (STREAM)

A Sherpa family is asked by a group of mountaineers to help them accomplish the first ascent via the east face of the Kumbhakarna Mountain in Nepal. It’s a tough decision for the family: the mountain is considered sacred in their Kirant religion and should not be climbed, but this expedition would bring enough money for their son to study medicine. When the weather gets worse, the fault lines between the climbers and the Sherpa become deeper and deeper. Eliza Kubarska shows this undertaking from the perspective of the Sherpa, including aspects of expeditions of this kind that remain usually unseen.
