PULSE
2016, Hungary
Robin Petré
One of the largest deer farms in Europe can be found in the hills of southern Hungary and is home to more than 1,500 red deer. The first animals were caught in the forest and brought to farms only 25 years ago. PULSE plays with the fine line that separates reality from sensual, dream-like experiences. The film interweaves modern footage with photographs from the beginnings of deer farming in Hungary in the 1980s. Using the animals' pulse, which is elevated when humans violently influence their daily lives, it serves as a physical argument against the tradition of subjugation.
