PROMIS LE CIEL (PROMISED SKY)

Marie, a priestess, leads an informal church community; Naney scrapes by with petty illegal trades; and Jolie is studying engineering. In their home country, Côte d’Ivoire, they would have been unlikely to meet. In Tunis, their paths cross: as people from sub-Saharan Africa, they live united in the hope of a better future and in fear of racist attacks and state repression. Their community is portrayed with sensitivity and realism – and their solidarity is put to the test when a young orphan girl suddenly turns up.
