PRIVATE STAGES
2021, Austria/Georgia
Carmen Brucic
PRIVATE STAGES is about five activists who are part of a universe, of a revolution that came to a sudden halt due to the global pandemic. The protagonists are associated with the famous Night Club Bassiani in Georgia’s Capital Tbilisi, where the young and queer community could meet freely until a police raid, attacks from far-right groups and religious unions threatened the community. Within two weeks in the summer of 2021 Carmen Brucic created the portraits that ask the question: can resistance flourish in isolation? What other forms of resistance are there? How does one prepare oneself for the future?
