ON BECOMING A GUINEA FOWL

On her way home from a party, Shula finds her uncle dead in the street – not far from a brothel. The next day, her aunts arrive, strictly dictating the course of mourning and ensuring that everyone fulfils the roles they expect them to assume. When Shula tries to bring to light her uncle’s terrible deeds, shrouded in silence by her family, she realises that some would prefer to bury them with him... Anger, pain, surreal and even comedic elements combine to form a powerful outcry against toxic patriarchal family structures.
