ОБИТАТЕЛИ (THE INHABITANTS)

Pelešjan's work stands out for their time in terms of theme and form: the INHABITANTS from the title are animals. Humans, on the other hand, are only alluded at with bars and gunshots, giving rise to the question of what the relationship between animals and humans is. Alike to НАЧАЛО, this film also consists of found footage. And here, too, there is no classic plot line. Instead, Pelešjan's distance montage creates a film structure that resembles a ‘balloon-shaped rotating configuration’. The basic idea of it is to create a distance between key images in order to intensify their effect.
