NONOSTANTE LA NEBBIA

Paolo, who runs a restaurant in a small town, is on his way home from work on a rainy evening. At a bus stop, he sees a child huddled in the cold and decides to take him home. The parents of 8-year-old Mohammed drowned while crossing the Mediterranean Sea in an inflatable boat. Valeria and Paolo, who have lost a child themselves, decide to take the boy in, perhaps as a consolation for their own loss. But the family faces resistance from their loved ones and their surroundings. This is a story about a world sinking further and further into a xenophobic swamp.
