In besieged Damascus, a family decides against all reason not to leave the city. Furthermore, it is the father who makes this choice and won’t let himself be persuaded otherwise by his wife. The film has a fairy-tale-like touch: when a man, on the verge of lunacy, strictly follows his pre-defined habits and covers destroyed walls with colourful cloths; when a girl secretly experiences her first love behind her bedroom door and finally makes her own choices. A smiling allegory of the warranted downfall of patriarchy.
