Mari is a member of an evangelical religious community where everything has its place: women are pretty and obedient; men strong and determined. In addition to giving pop performances in church and engaging in YouTube tutorials about the perfect Christian selfie, her clique attacks ‘sinful’ women at night. Mari has found her place until she herself is ‘disfigured’ with a scar in an attack during the night. According to Rocha da Silveira, there was an increasing number of reports in 2015 about attacks on women that aimed at disfiguring them. That inspired her to shoot this feminist musical horror comedy.
