Rubaiyat Hossain
In her third feature film, Rubaiyat Hossain describes the unequal struggle of young women for their rights in the private and the political sphere. The central character is Shimu, who founds a trade union in order to fight for an improvement in the working conditions of the textile mill she works at. Attempts by superiors and her own husband to intimidate her do not keep her from striving for a fairer world.
