LUNANA (STREAM)

The young teacher Ugyen lives in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Though he dreams of emigrating to Australia and becoming a career musician, he is instead sent to the remote Lunana to spend his last contract year as a teacher. Reluctantly, he sets off through the enchanting mountain world. Upon arrival, he meets a community that treats him with respect. At an altitude of over 3,700 metres, a dozen children eagerly await instruction in what is probably the world’s most remote school. Pawo Choyning Dorji's first film boasts both idyllic nature and captivating performances from amateur actors.
