SHUKU SHUKUWE

Agostinho Manduca Mateus Ika Muru Huni Kuin

In a rare and intimate portrait, SHUKU SHUKUWE gives insight into the cosmologies of the Huni Kuin people and depicts how their culture is closely connected to plants, which represent ancestors and leaders for them. Shaman Agostinho Manduca Mateus Ika Muru tells the story of how people became mortal when they did not listen to Yuxibu, the Creator. With its mythical images, this film is part of a project to preserve the knowledge of the Huni Kuin. A ‘living’ book, the ‘Livro Vivo’, was also created alongside SHUKU SHUKUWE.
