LA PALISIADA

A gun shoots twice: the first shot in 1996, the second a good 25 years later. Following a prologue set in the present day is a murder investigation in newly independent Ukraine during a turbulent time of upheaval. Philip Sotnychenko found inspiration for this unusual social thriller in VHS archive footage of the police. He borrows its video aesthetic just to break with it time and again. LA PALISIADA is like an image puzzle; and at the same time, it shows how violence is passed on to the next generation.
