In an Innu community in Québec, two girls are growing up together as best friends. Mikuan lives in a functional family, while Shaniss struggles with a troublesome past. Their oath of allegiance, made when they were children, is put to the test when Mikuan, now aged seventeen, falls in love with a white boy. She plans to leave the reservation, that now appears to hold too little space for her dreams. A humorously and tenderly told story about friendship, personal development and cultural roots.
