KADIB ABYAD (THE MOTHER OF ALL LIES)

Asmae El Moudir gathers her grandmother, parents and former neighbours to recreate her former neighbourhood in Casablanca as a detailed model. Before she was born, her street was the site of a massacre in which the police and military shot hundreds of people during the Bread Riots in 1981. A trauma that runs deep, was kept secret for a long time and of which there are hardly any pictures. There are no pictures of Asmae's childhood either. Instead, her mother shows her photos of other people. A cautious search and exploration of her own family history and collective memory.
