JUUNT PASTAZA ENTSARI (THE WATERS OF PASTAZA)
2022, Portugal
Inês T. Alves
Alves didn't actually want to make a film. After her studies in London, she went to an Achuar village of 80 people in the Ecuadorian Amazon for two months to work at the local school. While she was teaching the children in the mornings, she learnt from them in the afternoons, did film workshops with them and finally began to film: the children fishing, boating, playing ball, cooking, doing mobile phone plays... The film does without dialogue, benevolently observing and focusing on the children without negating the adult world nor romanticising it. Recommended for ages 6 and older.
