Japan, 1725: Samurai Isaburo wants a happy marriage for his son and retirement for himself. Against his will, his son is forced to marry a former mistress of the clan chief. But when the two fall in love, his dreams seem to come true. However, the clan chief soon threatens to destroy the young couple's happiness and forces Isaburo into action. Isaburo (played by actor Toshiro Mifune, known for his work with Kurosawa) and his rebellion against the unjust ruling class of a tyrannical system are depicted in precise images, with accurate rhythm and legendary fight scenes.
