JADDEH KHAKI (HIT THE ROAD)

A family goes on a road trip with an unknown mission. A lively six-year-old, the loving parents with their sarcastic humour and a mysteriously calm grown-up son are driving through the changing landscapes of Iran, heading towards the border. A strict ban on mobile phones and clandestine phone calls make for a tricky combination. In his feature film debut, Panah Panahi (son of Jafar Panahi, who has been barred from his profession) uses impressive visuals to show the difficult fate of many of his compatriots. In addition to its stringent narrative style, the film captivates with its humour.
