É NOITE NA AMÉRICA (IT IS NIGHT IN AMERICA)

We drive through the dark streets of Brasília. Anteaters, foxes, otters, capybaras, owls and many more – they are all reported as intruders to a task force by human inhabitants. When Brasília was built and declared capital in 1960, both indigenous groups and diverse wildlife had to make way. Ana Vaz's experimental documentary is a postcolonial ecocriticism in crackling 16mm format and with an impressive soundtrack. The question is posed: are animals invading our cities, or is it we who are occupying their habitat?
