IMAGE DIPLOMACY

This carefully researched film is about Soviet cultural diplomacy and, more precisely, ‘image diplomacy’. In it the strategies employed by the two ideological blocs are compared. While the Soviet bloc spread its messages in small travelling exhibitions, the American bloc conceived the epic exhibition "The Family of Man". The film provides an insight into the unwritten history of Soviet cultural diplomacy and socialist internationalism, examining how historical narratives were created. The film will be followed by the presentation of the resulting book in the presence of the artist.
