GREAT HAPPINESS (STREAM)

Three friends, Li, Sui, and Xining, live in Xining, near the border with Tibet. They have just graduated from university and all three have ambitious plans for their future. But things don't go quite as smoothly as they expected – either due to pressure from their families, their own idealism, or simply because they are just a tad too confident. GREAT HAPPINESS opens up an intelligent, ironic perspective on the belief in progress, materialism, and the Chinese form of capitalism. With a good sense of humour, it also shows the effects of the one-child policy in a constantly changing and expanding city.
