ЭТО ЛОШАДИ (THERE ARE HORSES)

1966, USSR

Tolomuš Okeev

The life of a horse, presented in ten minutes in beautiful, dynamic colour images: a foal is born in the idyllic Kyrgyz mountains. Humans gradually become more and more present in the horse's life until it is brought from the vast meadows to the cramped stable of a hippodrome. In his student work, Okeev takes a critical look at human interference with nature and the relationship between humans and the environment. This feeling of unease can also be found in his thesis film НЕБО НАШЕГО ДЕТСТВА (THE SKY OF OUR CHILDHOOD), which was shown at IFFI in 2017.
