A SONG FOR BEKO was made and is set on the Armenian border with Turkey and is the first film to be made in Kurdish. 1988 - Beko's brother Cemal is being pursued by the Turkish military as a deserter. When they do not find him in his home village, they take Beko in Cemal's place. However, Beko manages to escape across the Euphrates to south-west Kurdistan, where he joins a group of refugees who have so far managed to evade Hussein's army. While Beko looks after the traumatised orphans in the camp, he longingly hopes for news of his brother. A SONG FOR BEKO takes place on the national border between Armenia and Turkey and is the first motion picture shot in Kurdish. 1988 - Beko`s brother Cemal is being chased by the Turkish army for being a deserter. As they are unable to find him in his hometown, they abduct Beko instead. Yet Beko manages to escape across the Euphrates to Southwest Kurdistan, where he joins a group of fugitives who were able to flee Saddam Hussein`s army so far. While hekeeps on hoping to receive a message from his lost brother, he takes care of the traumatized orphans in the camp.
