How can you tell the turbulent history of modern Lebanon? Filmmaker and artist Lana Daher’s answer is an energetic audio-visual compilation comprising over 20,000 sources of image and sound: excerpts from films, home videos, news reports, social media and photographs complement, contradict and comment on one another, creating a new, striking (dis)order. The result is a cinematic declaration of love to Beirut that lays bare the country’s fault lines, serving as an act of indictment, a process of mourning and a gesture of resistance all at the same time.
