Together with their two daughters, Walid and Nadine turned their backs on Beirut, its rubbish, corruption and dashed hopes. They have created their own little paradise in the hills far away from the city. Their paradise is threatened when the government announces that a rubbish dump will be built right next to it, confronting the family yet again with the very reasons they fled Beirut. Family relations become brittle. Akl’s debut film captivates with its portrayal and negotiation of major political positions within a family, while still leaving enough space for moments of hilarity.
