CHRONICLES FROM THE SIEGE
2026, Algeria/France/Palestine
Abdallah Al-Khatib
Abdallah Al-Khatib experienced and made a film about the siege of Yarmouk, a Palestinian refugee camp near Damascus: LITTLE PALESTINE, winner of the documentary competition at IFFI #30. Now, the filmmaker has expanded on these experiences to create a fictional feature film that doesn’t use any specific locations but draws on real-life events, depicting five episodes in a cruel daily existence: hunger, the search for fuel during a ceasefire, the small freedom of smoking a cigarette, a meeting between lovers and makeshift care of the wounded in a hospital. Humanistic, harrowing and even humorous.
