CHILLPIQ

Forty women travel to Mount Chillpiq in Karakalpakstan, an autonomous republic in north-east Uzbekistan, to walk around a Dahna, a cemetery. Together they commemorate the characters of a widespread myth, QYRQ QYZ, which attributes the construction of the site to the last battle of the forty Amazons against the Persians. In the film, however, an abandoned metal flagpole, a remnant from the Soviet era, turns into a place of remembrance. In CHILLPIQ, the boundaries between mythology and the present become blurry.
