Bürglkopf could be a haven of peace. For many, however, the mountain embodies hopelessness: a so-called return centre is found high above in Tirol’s mountains, where asylum seekers whose application has been rejected are kept, cut off from the outside world. In Lisa Polster’s documentary, current and former inmates talk about their escape and their forced stay; to each other, on the phone or into the camera. The locals have mixed feelings about the centre. And the state agency that manages it even tries to keep the film crew away.
