BIPOLAR

A young woman from China travels to Lhasa, Tibet. Although she claims to be on a pilgrimage, she herself does not know what has brought her here. Through dreamlike flashback sequences, we glimpse that a traumatic experience of loss led her to Lhasa. When she sees a lobster in a far-too-small aquarium in the hotel lobby, a new mission begins for her: She buys a taxi and sets out across the country to return the lobster to its home. What ensues is a quirky, stylish road-trip movie in black and white with occasional splashes of colour, surreal passages, and a cathartic mission.
