BAAMUM NAFI - NAFI'S FATHER

A seemingly harmless conflict between two brothers escalates. Tierno, the village imam, is supposed to marry his daughter Nafi off to his brother’s son Ousmane. The latter has been abroad for some time and now belongs to an Islamist group. Tierno does all he can to prevent the wedding and thus wrecks his daughter’s meticulous plans. Distracted by this whole matter, Tierno overlooks worrying developments in the village community. In atmospheric images Dia reminds us that there are always signs, even if they appear insignificant.
