AVANT-DRAG!

In this journey through Athens, we get to know nine Athenian drag performers. In political shows, they deconstruct gender, nationalism, belonging and identity – against a backdrop of police brutality, transphobia and racism. The tone alternates between wry humour and quiet thoughtfulness; the boundaries between art, activism and life become blurred. At one point, the connecting narrative outlines the artistic practice: Drag opens the door to the basement, takes items out of the darkness, turns them into clothes and wigs and wears them.
