ATLANTIDE

On Sant’Erasmo, an island in the Venetian Lagoon close to picture-perfect Venice, the daily life of young people centres on breaking speed records in their speed boats (called barchini), trap music and making a fast buck. Daniele is 24, an outsider who never wins any of the illegal races with his barchino. It’s all about macho rites of passage and the contrast between the Venice for tourists and the Venice for workers. Ancarani combines documentary methods with the aesthetics of commercials and music videos.
