ANCESTRAL VISIONS OF THE FUTURE

Memories of a childhood in Lesotho: Lemohang Mosese uses the multifaceted language of film to elaborate on farm work and a connection to nature, on finding one’s bearings in a city marked by violence, on modest dreams and everyday struggles. Much like an epic poem, a poetic voiceover guides viewers through the film, at times contextualising the fascinating, often enigmatic images; at times subverting them. Key companions on this journey are a puppeteer who opens people’s eyes, and a mother who radically raises her voice against evil.
