Interlaced episodic film that makes the fates of immigrants and workers in America transparent in a sometimes lyrical form using four examples that are separated in time. With the help of play plots and documentary parts, the film creates an arc of images of our century and attempts to relate people's striving for happiness to technical development. A film on a high intellectual and formal level that demands a lot from the viewer.
