Singapore, 1994: Seven-year-old Swee Swee – who refuses to be called by her English name, Eileen – is lively, in love, and runs an illegal chewing gum trade at school. As the older sister, she has to navigate the chaos of her separated parents at home and soon becomes absolutely certain about one thing: all adults lie! In candy-coloured scenes, the film – with its seriousness amidst situational comedy – unfolds as both a childhood observation and a cross-generational social commentary, carried by the impressive performances of the young cast.
