In the medina of Casablanca, the single mother Abla runs a little bakery. From her window she sells traditional bread and pastry. When a young pregnant woman in search of a place to sleep turns up on her doorstep, Abla reluctantly takes her in and only for a few days. For she too has to be careful, as a woman without a husband, not to fall into disgrace with her neighbours. A story of solidarity between two woman and a girl in a patriarchal society.
