A LACK OF CLARITY
2020, Denmark
Stefan Kruse Jørgensen
Using video footage found online of thermal imaging cameras monitoring the streets of Las Vegas, Stefan Kruse Jørgensen edits together a reflection on the changes taking place in the contemporary cityscape. In the comment he establishes a fragmentary link between the city lights of Paris at the end of the 17th century and the potential surveillance of dreams. In essay form, he explores the expansion of social control mechanisms and the development of digital technologies, forcing us to confront the limits of an expansion of the field of the visible – and controllable – in surveillance society.
