A FOX UNDER A PINK MOON

Soraya, an Afghan teenager, is a sculptor and illustrator living in Iran. Together with the director, she tells her own story, filmed with her smartphone. Soraya wants to get to Europe to be with her mother, who lives in Austria. She documents her real-life attempts to escape during the first leg of her journey into and through Turkey. On foot, in overcrowded minibuses, by boat: time and again, her plans come to naught. In between, in her daily life with a violent husband, Soraya processes life events in fantastical art, which can also be seen as animations in the film.
